Posted: 28 Dec 2020 12:00 AM PST NICK BRIGGS/NETFLIX Shonda Rhimes knew we needed something deliciously distracting to watch during the holidays, so she dropped Bridgerton right into our laps. The show, which was adapted from a series of Regency romance novels by Julia Quinn, is classic Shondaland with hot male leads, romance, drama, and sultry scenes. A key difference between Bridgerton and Rhimes' other modern-day shows, however, is the fashion and styling. Instead of scrubs or a powerful pantsuit, we're given 19th century embellished ballgowns, lace corsets, waistcoats, and Swarovski tiaras. Personally, I was hooked from the first episode, thanks to the dresses and hot Duke Simon Basset (played by Regé-Jean Page, whom I immediately started following on Instagram). In the show, there is no lack of color (the Featherington family loves florals and bright hues), sparkle, or glitter in the attire. The fact that some of the costumes look like they could be worn in present day was done purposefully, which makes me love the clothes even more. Though I shall pass on the show's crotchless bloomers and tight-fitting corsets, I'd happily dress myself in any of the bespoke frocks. Since it's a little difficult for anyone to get their hands on these pieces IRL, I did all of us (okay, really just myself and the Marie Claire team) a favor and found some Bridgerton-inspired dress dupes ahead. According to Us Weekly, two contestants from season 25 showed up to meet the 28-year-old Bachelor in the exact same dress. The gown that is in question is red, form-fitting with a crisscross neckline and flares at the bottom. Fans can find the dress on the REVOLVE website under the name 'Nookie x REVOLVE Viva 2Way Gown' and will only cost you $269 USD. The dress comes in three different colors as well: red, black and pink, as well as two different necklines. The fact that two women customized the dress the same way is quite surprising. The contestants who wore the same dress were Anna, the copywriter from Chicago, Ill., and Alana, the photographer from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. advertising After the official Bachelor Instagram account shared a photo of the group, fans began to call out the mishap in the comment section. "Two girls have the same dress," one fan wrote. Others saw this comment and were quick to chime in on her observation. "Can't wait to see who wore it best," one fan replied with several laughing-crying emojis. "And they put them both in the front row," replied another. Someone else blamed the crew for the placement. "The producers did them dirty lol," the viewer wrote. Now that many people saw this mishap, they have quickly pointed out another similar dress with two contestants. "The 2 white dresses on the front row also are the same," they wrote, adding that because one girl is so much taller than the other, the design seems different. After taking a closer look, the white dresses are completely different as one dress has an open back cutout and the other does not. advertising Matt did not seem to mind the two women wearing the same dress as they both received a rose on night one. Maybe one of these lucky ladies will be his forever love.

14 'Bridgerton' Costume-Inspired Dresses You Can Shop and Wear IRL - HYPEBAE Posted: 05 Jan 2021 07:08 AM PST Since the release of Netflix's Bridgerton in late December, many have been enticed by the show's plot, cast and above all else, its Regency era-inspired costumes. For those who have already binged their way through all eight episodes, you would probably have noticed the array of vibrant, frilly dresses that Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) wear throughout the series. Developed by Emmy Award-winning costume designer Ellen Mirojnick, whose credits include The Greatest Showman, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil and more, the Bridgerton cast's outfits took five months to produce with the help of over 200 artisans. Focusing on the fictitious Regency London's ton during the social season in 1813, Bridgerton sees debutantes dress in their best gowns while attending exclusive balls, dinner parties and charity events. To bring the show to life, Mirojnick has created about 5,000 costumes from scratch, amplifying the classic look of corsets, puff-sleeved dresses, empire silhouettes, overcoats, shawls, silk gloves and more. For diehard fans of the show who want to channel their inner Bridgerton or Featherington, we've put together a selection of Bridgerton-inspired modern dresses you can wear on a daily basis, or for themed royal parties via Zoom. From Sleeper's baby blue lace-up linen midi dress, to Erdem's floral silk-voile number, scroll down to discover our favorite styles. |
