I do cut my own hair - with nail scissors every few weeks. I have saved a small fortune. However I am feeling like a change of late and given that I have the whitest hair - I thought I should maybe consult someone and I am mad interested in Balayage...
As we all are. Apparently it's whats hot in hair right now and quite a few people I know have it.
So I walked into a salon in Clonakilty to see how much they would charge me while I was on a holiday. I asked for Balayage and prices and was met with a total blank face. She hadn't a notion what I was on about.
In fact, she actually made me feel stupid for asking. She asked if it was a shampoo I was looking for - I was like, erm, no... Then she blamed being away for the past few weeks as she had had a baby! erm, sorry love but that doesn't fly - its been a thing since the 1970s!!!!!
Just as I was walking away feeling like a complete fool and wondering if I had gotten the name of the style wrong or if I was just mental....my mother convinced me to pop into another salon and not only were they lovely (Jagged Edge people - give them a call) but they gave me some solid advice on what to do with my hair as it is now. I was blown away. They quoted me a reasonable price which wasn't mental considering the work involved on doing that to bleached hair and as a result have gained a new client - my mom!!!
It just goes to show how when you are in a job like that - your knowledge goes a long way. It is our jobs to be informed and up to date with all the new trends and not to fob customers off. Also manners go a long way as well......
