Sunday morning . . .

"You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere. You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe deserve your love and affection."

~Buddha

Simply put . . . if you don't love yourself, you cannot love others. When you love others, as you love yourself, you will do to them as you would like them to do to you.

Not a bad rule to live your life by, I reckon. I don't think it's exactly a new concept. I believe it's called the ethic of reciprocity, otherwise known as the "golden rule."

*And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.*
~Luke 6:31

My wrist/hand are really paining me this morning, so this is short but sweet. Do forgive me. I figure if I give it a bit of a rest then I may be alright for work tomorrow. I sure hope it's not carpal tunnel . . .

I am looking forward to seeing the Young Women at church this morning. They will have returned from their EFY (Especially For Youth) experience and will probably still be really buzzing from that. I can't wait to hear how it all went!

I made these delicious meatballs for our tea last night. Served with some vegetables and baked potatoes, they really went down well. I guess we'll have the leftovers today for our tea after church. They'll probably taste even better today. Funny how that goes . . . certain things seem to taste all the better for having waited over night. I'm not sure why that is . . . but I'm not complaining! This is another one from my Big Blue Binder. I've had it for eons and it's always been a favourite.

These tasty meatballs are just wonderful served with rice or noodles, or mashed potatoes. Your family will love these.

1 1/2 to 2 pounds lean ground beef
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp black pepper
4 tsp steak sauce (I use HP)
1/3 cup fine dry bread crumbs
1 large egg
1 TBS dry parsley leaves
Sauce:
2 TBS butter
8 ounces sliced mushrooms
2 TBS flour
1 tsp tomato catsup
1 can of condensed beef broth
1 package dry onion soup mix
1 cup sour cream

Pre-heat the oven to 200*C/400*F. Mix together the beef, salt, garlic, onion, pepper, steak sauce, bread crumbs, egg and parsley. Shape into 1 1/2 to 2 inch balls. Place on a lightly greased baking tray and bake in the heated oven until nicely browned. Remove from the oven and set aside while you make the sauce. Reduce the oven temperature to180*C/350*F.

Melt the butter in a large skillet. Add the mushrooms and saute until lightly browned. Stir in the flour and catsup. Add the broth gradually. Stir in the dry onion soup mix. Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat and add the meatballs. Pour the whole mixture into a casserole dish with a lid. Cover and bake in the oven for about 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and stir in the sour cream. Return to the oven and bake uncovered for about 10 minutes longer, until heated through. Serve with hot buttered noodles, rice or mashed potatoes. Delicious!!
